Hiking at Kings Gap

Kings Gap is a PA state park in Cumberland County.  At the top of the mountain is a gorgeous mansion overlooking the valleys below.  The park also had 16 miles of hiking trails including a Scenic Vista Trail,  which we decided to hike for the day.  It's labeled as an easy to moderate trail that has benches strategically placed so that you may relax & enjoy the view of Michaux State Forest.

The Labor Day weekend brought with it the most gorgeous outdoor weather you could dream of.  All week we have been roasting in the 90 degree temperature that broke just in time for the holiday weekend.  So the three of us decided to do some hiking in the perfect hiking weather.

We packed a little picnic lunch to take with us on our hike so we stopped about halfway through our hike to sit, relax & refuel.

Dylan hiking down a rocky hill with Daddy.  Dylan quite enjoys being in the woods and observing every little detail.  He had to touch almost every single tree that was on or beside the path.  Last time we went hiking, he had to stand on every rock.  What can I say, he soaks it all in, haha.

Daddy, Dylan & Mommy at the "Scenic Overlook."  It was gorgeous!  Sitting on those benches and feeling the refreshing breeze was just what I wanted and needed on a beautiful day like this.

We did roughly 2 miles of hiking that day.  Dylan did an excellent job hiking, even up the steep, rocky parts near the top.  It was not surprising that he was going to crash.  Daddy gave Dylan a lift for the last part of our hike back to the car.  I was sure that he was going to fall asleep perched up there, haha.  He did fall asleep and take quite a nap on the ride home though.
